The combination of financial services with mobile capabilities is hardly a new one. According to IDC, mobile banking has grown in Western Europe alone from a $12 million industry in 1999, to a $116 million industry in 2001. By 2003, IDC predicts this figure will jump to $344 million. Celent Communications adds that 150 million users will engage in wireless financial services by 2004 worldwide, with the European and Asia-Pacific regions predominating.
However, many wireless financial initiatives do not consist of real time alerts, but rather are limited to user-initiated transactions. Others do permit real time alerts, but offer these via such inefficient methods as SMTP, or email alerts. This is unfortunate since users have made it clear that financial information alerts are more important to them than even transaction based services. Customers want to know immediately when financial events occur which affect their portfolio.
Simplewire can offer such immediate alerts, as well as offering easy integration into any existing or newly developed financial system. In addition, Simplewire offers one-touch callbacks, a feature that is especially relevant to financial alerts. This feature allows a callback messages to be embedded in the message, such that with one touch of a button, the receiver can call the number back. By embedding, for example, the phone number of the customers broker, the customer can respond to the alert in order to quickly make any necessary transaction.
