Qpass Acquires Simplewire

Acquisition provides Qpass with service capabilities and technology to help improve efficiency of D2C digital commerce and content delivery.
SEATTLE and SOUTHFIELD, MI – May 18, 2006 – Qpass, a leading digital commerce software and solutions company, today announced that it has completed the acquisition and integration of Simplewire, Inc., a premium rate messaging aggregator. Qpass will leverage Simplewire’s unique technology platform and accompanying tools and services to simplify and improve the content delivery process for operators, media companies and content aggregators. Simplewire will be a part of Qpass’ OpenMarket Business Unit.
The Simplewire network reaches 425 wireless carriers in more than 160 countries. Simplewire’s services include providing standard rate messaging, premium rate messaging, and short code activations, as well as other services for D2C commerce. Simplewire’s customers comprise a full range of mobile infrastructure, marketing, and content providers such as Warner Brothers, Fox, Disney, NBC, Microsoft, General Motors, Qualcomm, Motorola, Lucent, Visa and many more.
Simplewire’s employees have been integrated into Qpass’ OpenMarket business unit and will continue to provide continuity and enhancements to the Simplewire messaging network and customer base. Simplewire Launches Premium Rate MMS on Verizon

MMS is finally possible in the U.S. market. Simplewire has released MMS capabilities for Verizon's network which allows the sending of multimedia content direct to Verizon MMS-capable handsets. This feature release has opened the door to selling ringtones, wallpaper, mobile greeting cards, and other enhanced binary content to Verizon subscribers. Simplewire Releases SessionTracker™

Simplewire has released a core feature to its network called SessionTracker™ that allows sessions to be utilized between mobile originated (MO) and mobile terminated (MT) messages on 2-way short code campaigns. SessionTracker allows customers to run multiple campaigns on the same short code without having to manage keywords. SessionTracker will automatically route opt-in messages such as the keyword "YES" to the correct campaign or application without the user specifying a unique campaign or program keyword. Simplewire To Demonstrate SMS-Enabled Coke Machine

Next week Simplewire will show off an SMS-enabled vending machine in San Francisco. The purpose of the machine is to show off Simplewire's SMS network and Premium SMS billing capabilities.
A flat-screen monitor is embedded into the machine. The monitor asks the user to text the word "coke", "dietcoke", or "dasani" to a short code. The user's mobile phone is charged $0.99 and the beverage is automatically vended.
Although SMS-enabled vending machines may some day be a realistic industry, Simplewire's goal is simply to entertain and attract people to the Simplewire booth. Come enjoy a beverage with the Simplewire team at next week's CTIA tradeshow.

Protocol Server software. The Simplewire WMP Server provides a robust
and scalable solution to the many problems associated with wireless

Fox Sports Radio has teamed with HipCricket to provide an "interactive radio" experience where listeners can use cell phones to give their feedback or participate in surveys, quizzes and give-aways. Hipcricket worked with Simplewire to setup the U.S. SMS connectivity to all U.S. Carriers. Enhanced Preview Messaging System Launched

Simplewire is the only aggregator in the industry to offer a Preview Lookup System. The Preview system allows customers to send in a phone number and get back which carrier the number maps to as well as 30 other possible pieces of data about that phone number. The Preview System is critical for IVR applications to determine whether a user is dialing from a landline or wireless phone. The Preview System is also essential to correctly route a message to the right carrier network.

You can now utilize multiple Premium SMS pricing tiers on a single short code for the U.S. market. Messages can be sent into the Simplewire Network via SMPP or via Simplewire's SDKs with an additional parameter specifying the pricing tier to apply to a customer's mobile phone bill.
As an example, if you are a ringtone website, you could have a $0.99, $1.49, $1.99, $2.99, and $5.99 premium price tier for different pieces of content. You'll only find this feature available on the Simplewire Network.
Brew-Directed SMS Released

The Simplewire Network can now send Brew-directed SMS to applications running on the Qualcomm Brew deck on Verizon and Alltel phones. Java MIDP 2.0 SMS Port Overriding Support Added

Simplewire is the first aggregator to release support for Java MIDP 2.0 (Java-directed SMS/port overriding) SMS messaging, including full support for the U.S. market. This new feature allows Simplewire customers to send wake-up messages to Java applications running on a handset. The Simplewire Wireless Messaging Network now supports EMS, or Enhanced Messaging Service. This service is being backed by all the major carriers and is already supported on many devices worldwide. EMS allows rich media including images and ringtones to be sent as inlined content inside concatenated SMS messages. Red Hat Inc. (NASDAQ: RHAT) has bundled Simplewire’s Perl Software Development Kit as a default module in their latest version 7.0 of the Linux OS. Their integration of Perl has been enhanced with several added libraries that Perl developers are finding to be indispensable, including Simplewire’s SMS Library.
Palm OS® Interface Released

The Simplewire Palm OS® Interface, which was released in October of 2000, has received awards of excellence from respected distribution channels including Palm.Net™, Handango.com and Tucows.com. The interface allows a Palm™ to send messages to any wireless device via the Internet. Simplewire is now in the process of releasing version 2.1.0, a customized development server.
